Who is Kasongo Munza?

A Letter to Africa About Africa

This small book was written by Kasongo Munza and  has been an amazing tool in God's hands around the continent of Africa.  Kasongo's book explains worldview and describes an African worldview that has been recognized as being broad enough to inform and enlighten most of the cultures on this continent.  It also develops a Biblical worldview and proposes that this is a solution to many of Africa's woes.  He also states that it is the solution needed for every continent and culture.

I had the privilege of working with Kasongo Munza in Zambia for six years.  He had been teaching these concepts for many years, and in the venues provided in Zambia was developing them.  Some of the illustrations used in his book were designed by him and commissioned to be painted on large panels for use in his classes.

He had always wanted to write his book, but never had the time until he was being diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and starting on his chemo therapy and needing to cut down on his activities.  He started writing in Johannesburg, and I started typing and laying out the book.  I was able to complete the layout for his revision before he passed away.

The insights he gives on African culture and worldview have helped both Africans and other cultures.  It is especially useful to Westerners wanting to help Africa.  His window into his culture is a starting point for discussions on how best to help.

It has been printed six times now—three times in English, once in Portuguese and twice in French.  I pray that it continues to be used for God’s glory.
