DISCIPLINE

This drama is one that a youth group in Zambia selected to perform for the Sunday church service. I was very surprised at their selection and when I asked them why they chose this one, they said, “Because we want our parents to learn how to do it.”
How extraordinary that this was their reasoning, and I was warned by a group of white authors that if I ever posted this drama I would get hate mail because it talks about corporal punishment.
One thing to keep in mind is that for most if not all Africans English is not their first language. And the words used for punishment is to whip or to beat. It sounds awful, but usually entails what I would call a spanking.
Also, I write about the African family as it currently is. Remember, as I say in the website on every page. “The dramas are not intended to answer every question. The purpose of them is to promote discussion and base that discussion on Scripture.
My intent is to show that corporal punishment often does not work and other means of discipline are better. The punishment can be tailored to fit the offense.
I have this in English and French for your listening pleasure. However, it is the last drama I will have an audio file for.
