POACHING

Poaching is a huge issue in Africa. It is viewed as a way of life. The results of poaching have been devastating for some species. This drama expands on an earlier one, “Who Owns Everything?”

I wrote this in South Africa where there is a huge problem with rhino poaching. I deliberately did not specify in the drama what animal John and James were planning on hunting. (I try to write “generically African” and expect each culture to adapt the drama when they use it.) It amused me greatly when people started asking, “Have you read Rachel’s rhino poaching drama?” They had adapted it.

The lessons are:

Obeying those in authority, even when you disagree with a particular law.

Taking care of God’s world.

Changing our behavior.
