THE PREMATURE BABY

I had been told numerous times by my African colleagues that I needed to write about this topic before I finally dared. It is a tough one. The belief that a baby born prematurely or stillborn is a curse is sad. The sorrow and pain of a couple cannot be expressed. It must be stuffed away. The grieving process is not allowed.

I based the circumstances in this drama on accounts by several pastors and church leaders who had gone against the traditional customs and conducted Christian funerals for premature or stillborn babies in their congregations.

Grandmother is definitely scared by the audacity of the church to allow this.
