FAMILY PLANNING--Part 1

This three part drama is probably one of the most controversial I have written. When my Zambian team and I read it together it stirred up passionate discussion. It seemed to be all the women and some men were in favor, and some men strongly against.

The term used here in Africa is family planning. It is totally counter culture in Africa. But the perceived need in the past to have as many children as possible was because so many babies died. Children are starting to survive and families are becoming huge. But giving up a cultural mindset is difficult.

The Scripture most often quoted against birth control is that Adam was told to multiply and fill the earth. As I said to the group, one must figure out what filling the earth means. Should we be all squished together like sardines? Africa is already seeing serious ecological impact from over population in many areas.
